Mark Twain Museum
Mark Twain Birthplace State Historic Site

The birthplace of Samuel Langhorne Clemens, more popularly known as Mark Twain, is a small two-room dwelling that is preserved inside a modern museum located near Florida, MO, on the Mark Twain Lake Reservoir.  From Paris, Mark Twain Museum is located near Florida, MO, 13 miles east on Hwy.154, 3 miles north on Hwy. 107, and 1 mile east on County Road U.

A modern museum surrounds the two-room 1803s cabin where Samuel Langhorne Clemens, author-humorist Mark Twain, was born.

Details of this man's remarkable career are interpreted through exhibits at the Mark Twain Birthplace State Historic Site.  Included are first editions of Mark Twain's works, a handwritten manuscript of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, and furnishings from his Connecticut home.

Visitors may see these exhibits and the birthplace year-round (except New Year's Day, Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays, and from noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays.  A nominal admission fee is charged.  Guided tours and special rates for organized groups available.

The museum is operated by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Division of State Parks.
